Apache Roller that is serving this blog upgraded to 3.1

Today the software running this blog, Apache Roller, has been upgraded to version 3.1. A new feature that lets one add tags to each post and let the blog show a tag cloud has been enabled as well.

The only thing I had to take special care of was a bug in Gentoo Linux, that is reported during installation of the Tomcat appserver:

* naming-factory-dbcp.jar is not built at this time. Please fetch
* jar from upstream binary if you need it. Gentoo Bug # 144276

To fix it, I downloaded Apache Tomcat 5.5.23 separately and copied the naming-factory-dbcp.jar to the common/lib directory of the installed Tomcat of my server (in /usr/share/tomcat-5.5).

Before fixing this bug, I found a

[Root exception is java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory]

exception message in my Tomcat log (catalina.out). The tags where simple added using the information found in the Roller 3.1 template guide.
